About our Football Club
The Story of Northleach Woollies
Northleach Woollies began like in 2005 originally as an after school "kickaround club" for children too young to join more serious training sessions run at our school by Cheltenham Town FC.
Five years on, we have around 40 boys and girls registered. Our U9 team competes in the Cotswold outh League, our intermediate "Fleecies" team play a series of local friendlies, and the younger children have no end of fun in our ever-popular "Football School".
Our principle is and will remain "football is fun". Our teams compete vigorously, but as Woollies we never forget that the grass roots game is about friends, families and fun.
The spirit of fun is wonderfully captured by the famous cartoon sheep on our shirts, which is partly a giggle and partly a serious reminder of Northleach's heritage as a Cotswold wool town. Our opponents usually aren't giggling for very long, though...
As a community club we are extremely well supported by parents and volunteers. Come to our playing field when the teams are playing at home and the Football School is in full swing, and the support can be very noisy indeed - but always fair and sportsmanlike.
Northleach Woollies - football, fiends, families, fun.
